Bus lanes must remain open if Bristol is to recover from years of failure, says Transport for Greater Bristol

Responding to proposals to partially local bus lanes, Martin Garrett, chair of Transport for Greater Bristol (TfGB), said:

“To get Bristol moving, we need to improve the bus network and give people alternatives over how to get around, not close them off and encourage congestion and air pollution.

“With limited road space, bus lanes need to be part of a long-term and all-encompassing transport strategy for the city and the wider region.

“Abandoning the bus network and fostering a greater reliance on cars would mean Bristol remains decades behind over cities on how people can get around.”
