TfGB is open to all members of the local campaigns for:
* reopening to passengers the Portishead, Henbury and Thornbury lines, and greatly improving the Avonmouth / Severn Beach line service.
* reopening the local stations at Ashley Hill, Lockleaze, Ashton Gate, St. Anne’s and Saltford.
* establishing Light Rail or TramTrain systems in the city.
TfGB covers all issues concerning the local rail network: its services, infrastructure, future planning, and its integration with other forms of transport. Our remit extends to helping plan a future Metro Rail for Bristol and its environs, including the possibility of on-street running.
At present we necessarily are as much a rail defence campaign as a forward-looking lobby. But with high speed rail, electrification, re-franchising and rail management decentralisation all happening or potentially happening, there is everything to play for.
Open to all members of TfGB, though there is a regular core group largely of representatives from local rail-based campaigns and rail trade unions. We meet approximately monthly, usually on a weekday evening.
